An argument broke out one day among Jesus’s disciples about who was the greatest. Competition and comparison are persistent influences in our lives. But there is no need for either when it comes to our relationship with Christ. What does it matter how many are coming to the buffet of His delights if there is ample parking, unlimited supply and no waiting in line? If there is V.I.P service for everybody, why should we compare ourselves to anybody? His love and attentiveness towards each of us is beyond what any of us could ever fully grasp.
In the famous words of Mark Twain, “Comparison is the death of joy.” So don’t be a killjoy of your own experience of Christ by taking your eyes off Him and fixing them on others.
