As I was about to toss an older edition of Parade magazine into the recyclables, I noticed Pierce Brosnan’s million-dollar smile and distinct graying hair. The caption by his photo read, “[The role of James] Bond changed my life; it was a gift that kept on giving.” Good for Pierce, I thought, without the slightest bit of disdain or minimizing of his gift.
Reflecting on my own life on yet another birthday, my heart rejoices that I can honestly say Jesus Christ changed my life; He is the gift that keeps on giving in more ways than I could possibly recount. He will continue to give not only for the rest of my life here on earth but throughout all eternity. He is the gift I can take with me when I leave and He is the Gift that will take me.
