We’ve all sat in talks where the speaker has a lot to say and then summarizes by saying something like, “the point is this…”
In the same way, all the words of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, are like a long lecture with a single point, and that one point is “Jesus.” As the apostle Peter put it, “All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name” (Acts 10:43). Jesus Himself said, “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose” (Matthew 5:17) and “If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me” (John 5:46). And one day, the people asked Jesus directly what the point of all God’s words was: “‘What must we do to do the works of God?’ Jesus answered, ‘The work of God is this: to believe in [Me] the One He has sent’” (John 6:35-36).
So, my point is this: All of us who have placed our faith in Jesus can rest assured we’ve gotten God’s point and are now forever in His favor.
