If you were to look in the Major League baseball standings, you will see a “z” next to my Baltimore Orioles. That means they have clinched a spot in the postseason even if they lose every one of their remaining games.
In the same way, every believer has a “c” next to his or her name in God’s “standings.” That means, because of Christ, you have clinched a spot in the postseason of this life, no matter how you or anyone else measures your “win-loss” record from here on out.
“Now the One who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (2 Corinthians 5:5). And every day that eternal postseason gets closer.
