“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). The Lord comforts us in all our troubles, whether they arise from our circumstances, our habits, our choices or from the weakness of our faith. That’s the blessing of the word “all.” It makes no distinctions. It has no exceptions. The Lord does so not only for our own benefit but to give us a testimony of His love to share with others, so we can comfort them.
The evil one slanders God, seeking to distort our view of Him and undermine our confidence in His love and faithfulness. He is a con man who wants to swindle us out of the security that is rightfully ours in Christ. Don’t let him! Always draw near to the Lord. No matter what the evil one says, hold onto what God says about Himself. Hold onto who God says you are to Him! Don’t let go! Hold onto those truths the way you would hold onto your wallet around a known thief. Only tighter! Because what the evil one wants to steal from you is worth far more than your cash. He wants to steal your trust in the One who knows you best and loves you most.
