Pastor Dan Baty’s Monday Morning Boost

September 23, 2024 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

“I am the good shepherd; I know My sheep and My sheep know Me” (John 10:14). Even though we know Jesus, just like sheep, we stray. So, we need reminders, reassurances, and realizations from the Lord all the time to refresh our faith in Him.

Reminders are so important because the busyness and challenges of life often dominate our consciousness, making it easy to forget the life-giving truths we know and believe. These reminders come from Him in various forms: a Bible verse, a word from a friend, a song, a touch of nature, or a line from a movie. He is wonderfully creative.

Reassurances from the Lord are like a balm for our souls when doubts and fears attack our peace and security in Him. He reassures us that His love, His plans, and most of all, His presence are unchanging, regardless of the day’s events or our managing of them. His grace is sufficient for us.

Realizations, or making things real, is the fascinating and profound work of the Holy Spirit. He makes the truths of God accessible, tangible, and personal. These realizations nurture our faith by making the riches of the life we have in Christ real in our experience.

Like sheep, we stray. But He is, and forever will be, our Good Shepherd.
