In my sermon yesterday, I shared that the more I comprehend the love, grace, and freedom I have in Christ, the more my heart chooses Him. Here’s why.
A healthy walk with Christ is like a sunflower naturally turning toward the sun, basking in its warmth and light. It’s not about striving to avoid the shadows of sin but being irresistibly drawn to the radiance of Christ. It’s more about being captivated by His delightfulness, and less about constructing barriers against sinful temptations. It’s more about opening the front door to experience more of Him, and less about bolting the back door to keep evil out. It’s more about the freedom to experience His fullness, and less about the denial of forbidden experiences. It’s about embracing His love instead of the fear of failure. As it is written, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18).
May God give us eyes this week to see His perfect love so, like that sunflower, our hearts will turn to Him.
