What’s on God’s “playlist?”
Jesus answered that question in a conversation with a woman one day. He told her that the kind of worship God enjoys is the kind that comes from a place of spirit and truth. That’s the kind of worship He actively shops for, Jesus said. (See John 4:23-24).
It’s great to worship when we’re feeling good about our spiritual life and circumstances, but one of the great blessings of freedom in Christ is His invitation for us to worship Him from whatever place we happen to be in. We don’t have to wait until we are in a worshipful mood. We don’t have to wait until we’re acting or thinking like a Christian “ought to.” The worship that moves God comes from a place of spirit and truth – inner authenticity. A place that discloses the truth about ourselves in that moment and acknowledges who He is regardless of how we are. His love for us, His faithfulness to us, His presence with us, His unchangingness towards us.
Prayers, praise, and meditation from spirit and truth are always a “hit” with God.
