“They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity” (2 Corinthians 8:2)
Like these believers, the Lord wants us to serve others from a place of abundance, not poverty. He wants us to serve from an overflow of heart that leads to rich generosity, even if we have but little to offer. For it is not the size or scope of our service to others that makes it generous in the eyes of the Lord, but the heart from which our service comes. When our service springs from trust in God’s love for us, His care for us and His faithfulness to us, our generosity becomes rich with abundant joy and gratitude – regardless of the amount. So, let us look to Him to bless us with service to others that is stimulated by recognizing His generosity to us.
