The real beauty of being a disciple of Christ—of being a learner—is in the journey itself. It’s not about reaching some finish line or feeling like we’ve “arrived.” It’s this ongoing process of honestly engaging Him in the present and just taking the next step as He reveals it. That’s the heart of discipleship. It’s not about being perfect but persistent. It’s about showing up, day after day, bringing nothing with us but faith in Him. It means not resting on our laurels or being shackled to our missteps of yesterday. It’s fixing our eyes on Him and moving forward, or even staying put for a bit. (Sometimes “following” Christ means waiting).
Throughout our day, He reveals Himself to us—His affection, His wisdom, His power. We see glimpses of who He is and how deeply He knows and cares for us. And through those moments, however small, however brief, He skillfully builds our trust in Him.
The journey is not always pleasant or easy, but through all the twists and turns, we gain a clearer picture of how rich our relationship with Him is and is becoming.
What a journey this is, right?
