Now that Easter is over, the way to live in response to the Resurrection of Christ is by realizing that God doesn’t love us because we do things for Him; instead, we do things for Him because we know how much He loves us. As Scripture reminds us, “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Easter shouts this truth from the cross and echoes it triumphantly from the empty tomb.
Our primary job now, as believers, is to trust in that love. At any time of the day, in any circumstance, and in every mood, His love remains the right focal point and the proper place to direct our faith. It is the reason and the fuel for everything we do for Him. To lose sight of this is to miss the true meaning of the cross and the empty tomb.
It is His love that empowers us to rise higher, live bolder, and serve with joy. The more we open our hearts to His love, the more our own love for Him and for others blossoms and deepens. So let us honor Him by trusting in the love He died to demonstrate. It is more than enough to produce in us and through us the glory He so richly deserves.
