I found some coins today during my morning walk and I am thankful our currency still bears the words “In God we trust.” That may be just a traditional slogan for many but for me it’s still the perfect strategy for life, and I think having it stamped on our money is the perfect place for it. It is both a caution to not trust in money, which, as we all know, is so uncertain and an encouragement to trust in the One whose promises are certain. For “blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
