“God my exceeding joy…” (Psalm 43:4)
Whatever may be our plans, whatever our desires, our hopes or our anticipated excitements, the Lord is our “exceeding.” He is the food that is better than food. He is the drink that is better than drink. He is the ultimate Source of our soul’s deepest satisfaction and the zenith of all joys.
That is who He is at all times. On our best days or worst days. On days of splendor and days of dreariness. Any variance in our experience of Him as such is not because God has changed but because our focus or our faith has changed, and in any moment He is available to escort us back to the truth of who He is because He wants us to know His “exceedingness.”
