In the culinary world, spices come in many varieties – sweet, tangy, bitter. On their own, they can be overpowering – even unpleasant. But when blended with care and purpose, they transform a dish. The right combination, in the right proportion, brings out something unforgettable.
In the same way, the Lord uses every event in our lives. The joys and sorrows, triumphs and trials as ingredients in His divine recipe. He wastes nothing. Not the sweetness of answered prayer, not the blandness of waiting, not even the bitterness of disappointment. All of it is stirred together to produce a flavor that is uniquely ours.
And that flavor matters. It personalizes our relationship with the Lord. It infuses our influence on the people around us. It becomes the entree of grace we enjoy and serve to the world.
So, this week, celebrate His stirring. Something soul-delicious is simmering.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).
