A deeper trust in God is a treasure chest of blessings. But it doesn’t grow in the abstract. It grows in the soil of relationship, watered by remembrance and thanksgiving. When we pause to consider not only what God has done for us but who He is – His attributes – our hearts are inspired to draw near to Him, not out of obligation, but out of genuine attraction.
Our trust grows when we remember that God is not a taker. He is a Giver. He doesn’t deplete; He abundantly replenishes. So, when He exhorts us to trust in Him, it’s not about His ego, and it’s certainly not about our loss. It’s about us experiencing our riches in Christ.
We cultivate that trust by expressing to Him our desire to grow deeper and more intimately connected, and then asking what that looks like for us today. What insights, inspirations, reminders, or opportunities is He offering as assets toward building that trust? Because whatever the means – prayer, claiming promises, worship, fellowship, giving thanks – all the familiar resources we’ve been taught to use, the goal is not proper technique. It’s not a formula. It’s relationship. We can engage our hearts with Him. A growing trust is nurtured in connection, seasoned with sincerity and humility.
