The ideas of great thinkers of the past like Plato and Socrates continue to influence our world, but no one speaks of them as though they were alive today. But from the beginning, the distinction with Jesus has been He was dead and now He is alive. And still today, this Jesus, who lived so long ago, continues to be spoken of in the present tense. Millions, from every walk of life, claim personal experience of His direct influence on their daily life. I am one of them. Unlike philosophers and holy men of the past, the powerful attraction to Jesus goes beyond His words to His living presence, which makes being His follower no mere religion; it is quite literally a daily phenomenon.
“I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore!” (Revelation 1:18).
