God is at work in you. You are His workmanship created in Christ. Have you considered thanking Him for the wonderful work it is? Or is your focus exclusively on asking Him to help you to be “better.” Have you thanked Him lately for all the reminders and refreshments that build and nurture your faith in Him. How about for the work He is doing through you to bless others. The work that makes your heart aspire to live higher in Him – even though you don’t always succeed. All of this is His work. According to the Scriptures He deserves to be celebrated for all His works – including His work in you. If you hold out on giving thanks for where you are in your journey until you arrive at your ideal self the Lord will be waiting a long time to hear from you.
Giving thanks for what He is doing in you is not prideful; on the contrary, it is an expression of humility. You are recognizing that you are where you are because of Him. Nor does it mean you have “arrived.” It just means you are acknowledging that because of Him you are on the way. Rejoice in Him for who you are as you continue your journey towards “becoming.”
