Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and peace was His earthly mission. His primary objective was to make it possible for mankind to be at peace with God, which would then create peace in our human relationships and also provide us access to a unique inner peace. This is a multi-faceted, supernatural peace, a heavenly peace; far superior to the earthly peace we obtain by our own strategies or from self-help books. It is a peace that calms and comforts us in trying times in a way that surpasses human understanding. A peace that creates love between unlikely parties and in unlikely places. It is a peace that makes access to God free, intimate and uninterrupted. It is not a peace we can purchase or own, it is a peace He gives but which cannot be experienced apart from a relationship with Himself. Why? Because the peace is in Him. He not only offers the peace, but He is the peace. This makes it an otherworldly peace but one that is available to anyone and everyone who calls on the Lord today.
“My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace” (John 14:27; 16:33).
