“Pastor Dan Baty’s Monday Morning Boost”

June 28, 2021 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

“God is good all the time!  And all the time God is good!”  It’s a call and response statement in many churches that almost always concludes with a rousing “Amen!” from the congregation.  But it is far more than a cliché.  It is truth!

Indeed, the Lord is good.  All the time.  Not just in times of plenty but also in scarcity.  Not only in times of pleasure but also in times of distress.  Not only when we get what we want but also when what we want remains out of reach.  The Lord is good even when what happens to us is not.

The richest blessings are not in what does or doesn’t happen to us, but in the marvelous ways the Lord nurtures us with His goodness despite what is happening.  The thing to remember and to ask God to help us realize is the goodness is in the Lord Himself, not just in what He does.

Personally speaking, I now stand on the threshold of yet another birthday, and on the eve of my 65th, (Yikes!) I thank God for all He has done with the previous 64 years, with all of the contents:  pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, abundance and scarcity, even the evil one’s snares and schemes, to bring me to this place in my relationship with Him.  The quality of my life has been immeasurably enriched not just by what has happened to me but by the grace He has given me to trust in and experience His goodness.
