“All my longings lie open before You, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from You” (Psalm 38:9).
As we seek the Lord, we can do so with confidence that all our longings lie open before Him. He knows them better than we know how to articulate them or even identify them, and the sighing we feel but cannot put into words are plain to Him. That is a special comfort on those days when our words don’t seem to be making much of a difference in our spiritual disposition. He can literally read us like a book. We can give Him the package of our heart without a label.
The context of Psalm 38 – before and after verse 9 – is disaster. So whatever may be our challenges, they probably don’t rise to that level, but even if they do they’re covered by this verse. Knowing He knows is sometimes all the boost we need to find rest in Him.
Amen. Nobody understands like Jesus. So happy to know that when no one else ‘gets me’. he does. Even when I do not understand myself, he ‘gets me’. How cool is that! I can give him my heart and he reads it like a book. He lovingly ‘gets me’.
