According to the Scriptures, Christ is our advocate (1 John 2:1), our defense attorney. Therefore for every accusation of us by the evil one, Jesus has a response. We do not have to defend ourselves.
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says, “It is finished, paid in full.”
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says, “Redeemed.”
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says, “Reconciled.”
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says, “Blameless!”
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says, “Holy.”
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says “Adopted.”
The evil one accuses, and Jesus says, “Perfect forever.”
The evil one, now exasperated, screams, “Look at their sin!”
Jesus calmly whispers, “Look at My hands. Look at My feet. Look at My side. But most of all, look at My empty tomb. You have no case here, you accuser of my beloved brethren. You are dismissed.”

Oh, how I wished I knew these truths back in my youth! It was only later in life that I realized my teachers only partially understood the Scriptures. Nevertheless, our merciful Lord knows how to direct our paths back to truth and to Him, so in the fullness of time and in ways I will never forget, the Holy Spirit showed me the awesome and timeless truth behind each one of these declarations! Praise the Lord!!
