Pastor Dan Baty’s Monday Morning Boost

October 18, 2021 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

A member of our church family sent me a response to my message yesterday. I thought it was both excellent and true, so I asked and was granted permission to share it with you. Though I implied these things in the message, I think the point is worth greater emphasis and clarity.

“God’s grace is infinite. He is acquainted with every sickness and every disease of the human condition. In His grace He makes room for us with all our issues. He welcomes us despite our diseases of spirit with all their variants and subspecies. No rotten condition of the heart is beyond His care, and He is immune to all contagions.

We humans, on the other hand, are susceptible to the harmful character sicknesses of others, and they can have varying degrees of hazardous effects on us. Sometimes the effect is so harmful, it is wise to protect ourselves from them – even as we continue to love and pray for those so infected.”

So, the point made by this beloved member is, in short, extending grace to others does not always involve maintaining contact with them. I wholeheartedly agree!

P.S. When I said, “Don’t send me any emails, text messages or call me on the phone” regarding the message, I was not being truly serious. I love receiving feedback! So I won’t be saying that again and I’m extremely thankful this member ignored the comment.
