A prayer for when your spirit really needs a boost from a dismal place. A miktam of Dan Baty. (The precise meaning of miktam is unsure, but possibly means: a plaintive style.)
When my heart is cold, I draw near to You
because You are the warmest place in the house.
I do not expect You to condone my sin
because I know You love righteousness
and hate wickedness in all its sizes and forms.
I do expect You to consider my whole story,
to sympathize with my weaknesses
and care for me with Your mercy and grace.
Not because I deserve it,
but because You are the great high priest
who loves me and delivered Himself up for me.
You paid for my forever-favored status with Your blood,
and that one payment was enough.
Blessed be the name of the Lord forever.
