“Pastor Dan Baty’s Monday Morning Boost”

January 17, 2022 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

Think of a simple lamp post. It stands in all kinds of weather. The middle of summer when the sun is shining bright and hot and in the cold of winter when the ground is covered with snow. It is there in the deepest fog. Though barely visible, it is there. Whether it is noticed or ignored, it is still there.

So is the love of God, and the truth that He is the Supreme Desire of our hearts and always the best thing about every day. So is His longing for us to connect with His love. “Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion” (Isaiah 30:18).
But unlike the lamp post, which can be removed by human effort or the force of a storm, the Lord promises:

“Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,” (Isaiah 54:10)

Morning prayer: As You long to be gracious to me today, Lord, let me long to receive Your graciousness. Let me be aware of it, to despise no “small” manifestation of it, and accept it with gratitude.
