Jesus often said and did things to fulfill what was written of Him in the Scriptures in order to live in accordance with His true identity as the Messiah. Not everyone saw Him as the Messiah or accepted Him as such. But that did not stop Him from believing and living according to His true identity.
In a similar way, we have been given an identity in Christ: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1). Other details of our identity are written in the Scriptures as well.
Not everyone will see or accept us as such. But, like Jesus, we too can choose to embrace what is written of us and live in accordance with our true identity despite the doubts of others or the spiritual attacks of the evil one.
God’s Spirit dwells within us to help us to understand, to embrace and to display who we truly are. So, as you launch your week, trust Him to refresh and reinforce your confidence in what is written about you, the true “you.”
