“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).
The ongoing “renewal project” the Holy Spirit is conducting in my life is taking me to a place where I define my spiritual growth not by how much more I “become” for Christ but by how much more Christ is becoming to me. Not as much by my avoidance of “sin,” as by Spirit-inspired love. My focus is less on my personal “spirituality” and more on getting to know Christ personally. More and more I find my heart resonating with the words, “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
