I couldn’t get the bass line of “Saturday in the Park” out of my mind during my devotional time this morning. I continued to talk to the Lord about our usual things, but in the background there it was. I even found myself humming it, during the pauses in my prayers. Finally, I smiled and said, “I hope you like Chicago, Lord, ’cause I can’t turn it off right now.” He assured my heart that He knew everything about Chicago.
The Scriptures instruct us that even if our hearts go beyond something as harmless as “Saturday in the Park” and actually begin to condemn us, it doesn’t distract Him because “He is greater than our hearts and knows all things” (1 John 3:20). In other words, He understands where we’re coming from no matter what thoughts are playing in the background.

That is so comforting because many times my thoughts are all over the place playing hide and seek with each other.
