The View from My Place – “A Candle and a Prayer”

In my private time with the Lord, I hold a candle in front of me.

I wave my hand over the flame and touch my heart, and I pray, “Thank You, Lord, for the warmth of Your reception and Your affection for me.”

For You meet me with the blessings of good things; You set a crown of pure gold on my head (Psalm 21:3).

I wave my hand over the flame again and touch each of my eyes and I pray, “Thank You, Lord, for the light of Your truth, for fresh insights, perspective, and reminders.”

For light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart (Psalm 97:11).

I wave my hand once more over the flame and extend my hand in front of me and I pray, “Thank You, Lord, for the inspiration and the ability to share Your light with others.”

That I may declare the praises of Him who called me out of darkness into His wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9).

I give thanks today for His presence in my life, for inviting me into His life and for privileging me to invite others into this marvelous experience of Him.
