Today’s View from My Place turns out to be a piece I wrote for the Monday Morning Boost exactly one year ago, but I was just talking this over with the Lord in my personal time with Him this morning, so it is truly The View from My Place today.
Sometimes it’s better to thank our way through a passage of Scripture instead of just trying to think our way through it.
The most challenging of passages can become a celebration if we approach it with a thankful attitude that recognizes the following:
1) The Lord is there to help us to fulfill His word, not to judge us by it.
2) The passage exists to lead us to His joy, not to “rob” us of our pleasure.
3) The Lord’s favor and affection towards us does not depend on how well we perform but on Christ’s performance on our behalf.
4) God wants to use His word not just to direct our behavior but to stimulate authentic communication with Him so we can enjoy an intimate and rich relationship with Him.
We were called into fellowship with the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:9). He wants our hearts not just our compliance. He is our ever-present Helper in all things at all times.
