Yesterday, I had the absolute joy of talking with each of my sisters one-on-one. Honestly, it felt like attending four church services back-to-back—it was that uplifting! I was blessed to lead each of them to the Lord, even though we don’t live close to one another. In fact, none of them even live in the same state as me. Over the years, I’ve supported their faith journeys—whether through phone calls, the occasional visit, or some of my writing. But relative to all their years in the Lord, I know my role is just a small part of their stories.
God has been moving in their lives in so many wonderful ways. He’s used other believers to encourage and guide them, inspired their prayers and personal study, and shown up with His own creative and personal touches. He’s wowed them with both small tokens and grand expressions of His love. As I spoke with them, I couldn’t help but marvel and rejoice at how vibrant and strong their faith has become. It reminded me of Philippians 1:6: “I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will continue to perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus, the time of His return” (Amplified).
What really struck me about this verse this time is how the second part of it is connected to the first. Paul’s confidence in God wasn’t something he mustered up on his own—it was a work of God in him. God’s work in others is miraculous, but His work in us, giving us the faith to trust Him for what He’s doing in their lives, is also miraculous. As I reflected on my sisters’ journeys, it hit me that their lives in Christ are living monuments to God’s faithfulness to His work and His commitment to completing what He starts. My prayer today is that God would grant each of us that same steadfast confidence in Him—for those we’re involved with and those we’re lifting up in prayer. For just as He gave it to Paul, He can surely give it to us.
