In my ever-growing relationship with Christ, I find that reminders are just as vital as new insights. Peter emphasizes this in one of his letters to believers: “I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have” (2 Peter 1:12 NIV). Scripture often instructs us to “remember” and “do not forget.”
Therefore, let us not overlook familiar biblical truths in our quest for more “sophisticated” insights. Rather, let us savor them as we would vintage wines, treasure them as classic masterpieces, and hold them in awe as we would famous landmarks. Many devout believers before us have found solace and guidance in these well-trodden passages. Let us, too, meditate on them, review them with the Lord, and share them with fellow believers. In the spirit of an old adage: “Make new friends but keep the old; one is silver and the other is gold.”
