The View from My Place – “Finding the Exit”

January 8, 2025 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

“I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” – Psalm 16:8 (NIV)

Have you ever found yourself driving around a giant, confusing parking garage? You’re going in circles, trying to find your way out. But then, you spot that bright, welcoming exit sign, and instantly you relax. You have direction. For me, my relationship with Christ is just like that exit sign.

When life is pointing me in multiple directions at once, I remember that Christ is my focal point. He helps me process everything and brings clarity and peace to my chaotic world. Not necessarily by providing all the answers I need or instantly solving all the issues, but by giving me the reassurance that He is in the car with me and I don’t have to fear or be anxious about where I am. In other words, He is the exit sign from distress and anxiety.

With my eyes fixed on Jesus, everything seems to fall into place. He helps me regain my balance and perspective, reminding me that I’m never truly lost with Him by my side. He knows where I’m going, even if I don’t.

Praise the Lord for being our exit sign in all of life’s confusing moments.
