Today I am thankful for this day, which is the first of the rest of my life. OR… it may be my LAST day on earth.
I do not consider my “last day” a morbid thought because the Lord assures and reminds me that the end of my life on earth is not the end of my existence, but the beginning of my heavenly presence with Him.
The apostle Peter reminds us to “Conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your stay upon earth” (1 Peter 1:17). This “fear” does not mean trepidation but profound respect for our Creator’s character and attributes, and a recognition of our transience in the grand tapestry of life.
So, may our reverence today consist of reliance upon the Spirit for mindful living, where each breath is a prayer, each thought is vetted by God’s word, and each action a reflection of our fellowship with Him. May we walk with the humility that comes from understanding that all that is good and lovely around us and from us comes from Him.
And should we see the sun set on this day, let our hearts rest in the warm assurance that His delight in us is unchanging and everlasting.
