The View from My Place – “Food and Light”

September 22, 2021 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

The Lord faithfully provides the nourishment our souls need and light for our path as we walk with Him.  Here are four brief truths that have fed my soul and shaped my perspective this week.

1.  The Lord is not like a baby monitor that is designed to pick up all sounds indiscriminately.  He can be selective in what He wants to hear, and He wants to hear you. “The LORD hears when I call to Him”  (Psalm 4:3).

2.  The Lord is not with you today by default or as if you were assigned to Him; He intentionally chose to be with you.  “The Lord is with me; He is my helper” (Psalm 118:7).

3.  “I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory” (Psalm 44:6).  Do not be reluctant to use the tools, resources, strategies, and assets the Lord gives you, just don’t put your trust in them. It is the Lord who gives victory, and He can do so with or without our “bows” and “swords.”

4.  There will always be “more” and “better” ahead of you but thank God for making you what you are today.  Don’t judge the project before the work is complete.  He’s not finished.  He is skillfully transforming you “from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
