This morning a friend requested prayer from me regarding her dying uncle. He is that special uncle. Fun-loving, nurturing, and who was always there for her.
I responded that she could count on my heartfelt and sincere prayers. And as I prayed for the comfort of her and her family, I also thanked the Lord for all the years they were blessed through him. My friend is the special person she is in part because of her uncle’s contribution to her life, which means I too have benefited from his life.
Then I became mindful of the blessings I have received through so many others over the years of my life. From friends, teachers, family. Even strangers. And my own heart filled and overflowed with gratitude.
God uses people to care for us. Anyone and everyone are potential couriers of “care packages” from Him. But He is always the Source. For every good and perfect gift comes from heaven above, even when it comes through earthly beings – like that special uncle.
So let us appreciate those who make our lives richer and give thanks to God for putting them in our lives.
