The View from My Place – “God’s Kindness”

March 30, 2022 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

There are countless books about God’s love, but the kindness of God is a much rarer title. Yet, in exploring God’s kindness we see a different and important dimension of His love. One definition of kindness is, “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.” Kindness involves an element of special thoughtfulness. We can think of it as part of the “soul” of God’s love for us. It reflects His knowledge of us personally and His considerateness towards the things He knows are special to us. In human terms, “it’s the little things that count” in a big way in our hearts.

We see Jesus’ kindness in not just heeding his mother’s request to provide wine for a friend’s wedding, but providing the best wine, because He knew that would not only meet the need but also put a big smile on His mother’s face.

Today, the Lord impressed my heart with His kindness towards me. He reminded me of a special gift He’d blessed me with that was personal and considerate of me.

May God grant all of us an awareness of the small “somethings” that are big displays of His kindness towards us. And let us not forget He often provides these through the people He has placed in our lives.
