The View from My Place – “He Laughs”

November 2, 2022 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

[Insert today’s distressing news stories here]

“The One enthroned in heaven laughs…” (Psalm 2:4). He does not laugh because what is happening on earth – the tumult, hatred, divisiveness, lies, death and arrogance – is funny. On the contrary, those things bring Him divine grief. No, He laughs because none of it can thwart His eternal purposes. It is the laughter of seeing the wolf huffing and puffing trying to blow down the house of brick. He laughs because no matter who is elected this coming Tuesday, “I have installed My king on Zion, my holy mountain” (Psalm 2:6). He laughs because despite all the earthly upheaval, His king is building a kingdom that will last forever! He is calling men and women of every nation, every political party, every race, every culture and every age to know Him personally and to become part of His forever kingdom. For now, it is a spiritual kingdom, invisible but no less real than a physical one. One day that will change, because every eye will see the King and His kingdom.

Let us vote, then, as conscientious, engaged and responsible citizens. But as believers let us always remember our King reigns and put our hope in Him.
