The View from My Place – Jesus Drops the Mic

September 20, 2023 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

This is my second annual “Drop the Mic” statements from the Bible meditation. Here are a dozen “Jesus gems” I imagine were part of the reason temple guards who had been sent to arrest Jesus came back empty-handed and offered this simple explanation: “No one ever spoke the way this man does” (John 7:46).

1. “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone” (John 8:7).
2. “Before Abraham was born, I AM” (John 8:58).
3. “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
4. “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:31-32).
5. “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26).
6. “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
7. Life is not measured by how much you own” (Luke 12:15).
8. “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent” (John 6:29).
9. “I came that they might have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
10. “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him” (Matthew 7:11).
11. “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36).
12. “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).
