In this hot, dry weather, as I gaze upon parched lawns and withering leaves, I remember “I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God” (Psalm 52:8).
Olive trees are known for their resilience and longevity, and symbolize peace, prosperity, and blessing. I have experienced these in both material and spiritual ways over the years. The Lord’s presence is the optimal climate and environment. He is not confined to any location and is with me at all times. In Him I find my true sustenance and am continually refreshed by the living water He supplies.
Though the heat of adversity sometimes makes me feel like a dry bush, God’s constant love and care refreshes me and ensures that I flourish and bear fruit. My leaves are green, and I need not be anxious in a season of drought.
For me, the secret of a vibrant life is not found in avoiding the heat but in whom I am planted.
