This morning, I was reflecting on the Lord’s work in me. How He’s coaching me, grooming me, teaching me how to walk, how to speak, how to respond to others, and how to carry myself as one who belongs to Him. Not just as a Christian “should,” but as a member of His royal family, a citizen of heaven, a fellow-heir with Christ. As His Word says: “Put off your old self… and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22–24).
It reminds me of Motown’s PR department in its early days. The way they polished their young stars to help them shine brighter, with charm, dignity, and grace. Because they were part of the Motown family and now represented the Motown brand. That’s what the Lord is doing in me, and in all His people. He’s refining us. Not to make us His own, but because we already are. Not to make us more lovable to Him, but because we are loved by Him. He’s not trying to make us impressive; He’s making us expressive of Him. He’s teaching us how to live as those who are already favored, already chosen, already secure. He’s not helping us earn our place; He’s helping us live from it, in a way that blesses us and draws others toward Him.
So today, I want to receive the coaching and welcome the grooming. I want to step into the throne room of grace again. Not with anxiety, but with anticipation and fascination. Because He is not just my King; He’s also my Stylist, my Mentor, and my Composer, The One who sees who I am, what I can become, and who delights in bringing it out.
