If you could take the Lord out for lunch for the sole purpose of giving Him your full and eager attention, what do you suppose the Lord would delight to converse with you about?
I asked the Lord that question and then collected these samples from His word.
The Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their trust in Him (Psalm 147:11). He loves to engage us on the blessings of learning to reverence Him and trust in Him, what it means and how it looks on each one of us.
The Lord delights in His people (Psalm 149:4). He wants us to know how much it means to Him when we come before Him on behalf of His family members, in whom He delights.
The Lord delights in the prayers of the upright (Proverbs 15:8). He wants us to know how much our personal concerns matter to Him.
The Lord delights in His chosen One (Isaiah 42:1). He loves interacting with us about Jesus, His chosen one, and making Him the center of our attention.
The Lord delights in lovingkindness, justice and righteousness (Jeremiah 9:24). He loves talking about these personal attributes of His, how He is executing them on earth and how they were all fulfilled in Christ.
The good news is we don’t need a lunch date to enjoy these subjects with Him. He is faithfully communicating them and reinforcing them day by day through His word, His people and His leaders, and in our daily life circumstances.
