The Lord provides us special moments. They often arrive at unexpected times and with unexpected gifts. A simple conversation blossoms into rich, long-lingering fellowship. A time of private prayer and meditation turns into a wellspring of joy. A moment of laughter, so hard that it doubles you over or leaves you gasping for air. A gratifying sense of inner satisfaction for “getting it done.” Moments of joy. Moments of peace. Moments of pleasure. Moments of beauty. These are all blessings from God, for “every good and perfect gift comes from above” (James 1:17).
And they never last. The most stunning sunset eventually fades to black.
But far from a reason to despair, let us go forward into future moments rejoicing, because we have something far greater than the memories of moments past. We have the moment Maker living within us, the One who does wondrous things in any place, at any time with anything and anyone.
