As we spend time focusing on the significance of this week, let us remember that we are not doing so to gain more of the unsearchable riches of Christ, for they already belong to us. The nearness of the Lord is available to us every day of the year, not just during “Holy Week.”
The blessing of this week is it presents us with yet another opportunity to remember how rich we are – at all times – in Him, to appreciate and enjoy our riches in Him, and to give thanks to Him for His amazing grace that made us wealthy.
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9).
This week is another opportunity for fresh orientation to the meaning of Christ’s death, an orientation facilitated by the “Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us” ( 1 Corinthians 2:12). Prayerfully, He will bless us with an orientation that will enhance our relationship with Him far beyond this week.
