The View from My Place – “The Question Is…?”

May 1, 2024 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

I once told my wife, “Among all my journals and collections of writings, the black journal holds the most significance for me. When my time on earth is done, I hope you’ll keep it.” Within those pages lie my discoveries and personal experiences—an exploration of the epic question the Lord posed to His disciples: “Who do you say I am?”

What astounds me is that this particular journal began eighteen years ago, yet its entries still resonate within me. The reason, I believe, lies in its focus: a relationship with a living Person—One who is both infinite and eternal. This Person can be known intimately yet remains forever beyond complete comprehension. He is both the Giver of life and the very essence of it. He not only knows my name, but He is also involved in every detail of my life.

This journal isn’t merely about historical events; it’s about encountering the living One who was dead and is now alive forevermore. But you don’t need a journal to discover who He is, just the desire, and He will fill the pages of your life with the knowledge of Himself. In His own words, “I came that they might have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
