“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
Ok, Lord, so what if the truest desire of my heart is to delight in You? What could be better than the “greater joy,” or the “pleasures forever,” or “the beauty of the Lord” that come from seeking to know You better? If those are real offers and not exaggerations, is not making anything else our primary pursuit actually settling for less?
Yet, speaking from my own experience, You are mindful that I am still human, and You have also graciously granted me more than an abundance of my earthly needs and cravings.
So, to answer my own question, as I have sought to find my delight in You, I have been blessed by Your personal delightfulness and with many of the things You know I need and just want.
To me, You are the ultimate Delight who knows and cares for all my desires.
