This story brought a smile to my face along with an important reminder.
Wisdom sat by the roadside, selling watermelons. Her price list was simple: 1 for $3, 3 for $10.
A young man strolled up, eyed the watermelons, and handed over $3 for one.
“That’ll be $3,” Wisdom said.
The young man smirked, then bought another. And another. Each time, he paid $3.
As he walked away, he chuckled, shaking his head. “Hey Wisdom, I just got three watermelons for $9 instead of $10! Maybe business isn’t your strong suit.”
Wisdom said nothing. She watched the young man go, then chuckled softly to herself.
“People are funny,” she murmured. “They just keep buying three watermelons, thinking they’re outsmarting me…”
God’s wisdom is always smarter than our reasoning.
“Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the markets; she cries out at the head of the noisy streets, at the entrance of the city gates she speaks” (Proverbs 1:20-21).
