Is Jesus Enough?
That question first stirred in me during a season of ministry reform, and it remains a beacon for me today. But it’s not just for pastors or church leaders. It’s for anyone wondering whether seeking to know Jesus better – truly knowing Him – is enough spiritual juice, enough vitality and substance, to sustain a life, a faith community, or a calling.
Whether you’ve walked with Him for decades or are just beginning, is the simple pursuit of knowing Him better compelling enough to produce the fullness of life of which Jesus spoke?
Today, I freshly realize this kind of relationship-centered life isn’t just about dynamic sermons or intensive theology. It goes beyond the dutiful habit of church attendance or ritualistic reading. It is about something deeper: the personal experience of Jesus showing up and showing through each of us. It is about being captivated and fascinated with the Person of Jesus, not just the idea of Him. It is about the Spirit of God blossoming our relationship with the living Christ, wherever we are, whatever our role.
That means the “Jesus is enough” life my heart longs for is beyond our ability to manufacture. We can set the table with Scripture, with prayer, with fellowship and service. But ultimately, the Guest of Honor must show up in each heart, reveal Himself, and lead the feast.
And I can’t speak for anyone else, but the reason I keep writing and speaking about it is because, in my life, He has creatively and faithfully done so, day after day. “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men” (John 1:4). That light continues to illumine every corner of my life.
