View from My Place – “Resilience”

July 7, 2021 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

In my experience, I have come to believe that resilience is a more important objective than perfection.

Resilience means seizing the opportunity of the next moment despite the setback of the last. It means not letting the quest for perfection prevent us from taking the next step towards progress.  Biblically speaking, it means forgetting what lies behind and pressing forward to what lies ahead.

However, contrary to many perspectives on resilience, I do not believe I am limited to my own resources to generate it.  There is a God who knows me beyond my own self-knowledge, and whose creative methods of inspiration are infinitely beyond my own.  He is the all-wise One, who knows what I need to know, knows what I need to hear, knows what I need to have and knows what I need to feel in order to be refocused and replenished. He restores my soul.  He gives me energy beyond my own power.  He gives me perspective beyond my own reasoning.  He gives me renewed strength to mount up with wings like eagles; to run and not grow weary, to walk and not faint.

There is a God who loves me more than I can grasp or imagine, and it is He who is the Source of my resilience.
