“Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty”

January 29, 2021 By Dan Baty 1 Comment

The Lord certainly influences our feelings but let us always be mindful that He is not one of them.  He is the Living One who exists regardless of our mood or our spiritual temperature.  His reality is not dependent upon our perception of Him or our sensation of Him.  His love is a constant whether it bubbles over in our souls or runs quietly like a gentle brook.   His faithfulness surrounds us whether we are peaceful or anxious.  He is ever-present whether we feel His nearness or feel disconnected.  He is at work within us whether we feel revved up and ready to go or feel like we’re stalling out and misfiring.  Our feelings are important to God and He invites us to pour out our hearts before Him (Psalm 62:8),  but let us never judge Him by our feelings.  For what is always most important is not what we perceive but what we believe, for “we live by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Amen and Amen. How wonderful that God/Jesus is not dependent on anything and especially not on my feelings which vacillate often. His mercy and grace are from everlasting to everlasting. And His compassion and love never cease. Thanks for your wonderful reminder.
