    Text: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

    • Your presence in the body of Christ is not a mistake, an accident or a coincidence. God designed and placed you in the body. You are a carefully conceived part of God’s master plan which He devised before the beginning of time. He didn’t create the plan and then fit you into it. The Scripture says He created the plan with you as an integral part of it from the beginning.
    • There are no expendable parts in Christ’s Body. No extra screws in the assembly of His church.  There are no bench warmers on His team. Every believer is a celebrity and a star player.
    • The Scriptures capture both the dramatic impact of 3,000 men being saved on one occasion and the quiet faith of a impoverished widow who gave a tiny offering but all that she had to live on – without exalting one over the other.

Comparing ourselves to others is showing contempt for God’s imagination

    • He didn’t create the ear to see or the eye to hear.

How do I participate in my calling:

    • Give what you love. Dorcas loved making things.
    • Give what you’re good at. Barnabas was good at encouraging.
    • Give what others have affirmed. We don’t always see our uniqueness until someone says “that’s unique about you”
    • Give where you’re needed.
    • Give where you are. There is ministry all around us.  Everybody has needs.
Seek to be receptive and responsive as the Spirit leads.

Understanding that we are celebrities is part of the benefits package of the New Covenant in Christ.

When we are focused on the amazing things God is doing in us, there is no room for envy or competition.

A truer view of yourself in Christ will lead to a greater impact on His church and the world.
